Whilst props are permitted, The Australian Pole Art Championships encourages competitors to keep props to a minimum.
Props can be used so long as they enhance the performance rather than being heavily relied upon to convey the theme/story/concept.
All props, including human props/back up dancers, must be pre-approved by the competition organisers at least 4 weeks prior to the Championships. It must be possible for props to be set up and packed down by 2 people within a 1-minute time frame.
Human props/back-up dancers will be required to complete a liability waiver. This waiver will be included in the Competitor Registration Pack. Human props are not permitted to make contact with the poles at any point in the performance. Human props will need to purchase a ticket to the Championships as they will only have temporary backstage access for the duration of the competitor’s performance.
Performers are permitted to use a plant in the audience (participating audience member), however this is subject to pre-approval by the organisers and prior consent from the participating audience member.
The following items/substances are prohibited from being used as props: liquids, glitter, confetti, powders, fire/pyrotechnics or live animals.
Any use of props/back-up dancers should be described in the applicant’s entry.
