A Pole Art performance piece could incorporate any style of dance or movement, be abstract in nature or tell a story whether that be dramatic, comedic or any other story telling narrative.
Your performance concept should be cohesive and consistent. For example, costuming, choreography/movement and any props used should be relevant to and enhance your performance. The Pole Art Championships will consist of 4 divisions:
The Pole Art Championships video judges reserve the right to change an applicant’s chosen division if it is deemed there is a more suitable division for that applicant. Applicant’s will be notified soon after registration of any division change.
Applicants are welcome to enter both the Doubles division and the appropriate solo division, provided separate entries are submitted.
LEVELLING UP
To ensure fair competition and adequate experience for all participants, the following rule applies:
First Place Winners in Amateur or Semi-Pro Divisions
If a participant wins first place in an Amateur or Semi-Pro division in any competition outside of Pole Art, they are permitted (but not required) to remain in their current division for the remainder of the calendar year.
For example, if an amateur competitor were to win the Amateur division in a competition in March 2024, they would be considered an Amateur by Pole Art until the end of December 2024.
When the next calendar year begins (2025) this competitor will be required to move up a division for any future Pole Art submissions.
This allows first-time winners the opportunity to gain more competition experience before advancing to the next division. This rule aims to provide a balanced and fair pathway for pole artists to progress through the Pole Art divisions.
*If you are unsure of which division to enter, please contact us prior to the submission deadline.
TIME OFF RULE
Some competitors who have had *5 or more* years off from competing may enter one division down, unless they have previously competed in a Pro division or have won or placed in Semi-Pro.
*Previous Pro competitors and Semi-Pro place getters remain at their level regardless of time off.
CLARIFICATIONS BASED ON EXAMPLES
Competed in Semi-Pro and Won (1st place): If a competitor won in Semi-Pro 5 years ago and then took time off, they should continue in the Semi-Pro division and not drop to Amateur.
Competed in Semi-Pro and Placed (2nd or 3rd place): If a competitor placed 2nd or 3rd in Semi-Pro and then took 5 years off, it would be fair for them to remain in the Semi-Pro division, acknowledging their past achievement.
Competed in Semi-Pro and Did Not Win or Place: If a competitor competed in Semi-Pro but did not place 1st, 2nd or 3rd and then took 5 years off, they may enter the Amateur division.
Competed in Amateur and Won (1st place): If a competitor won in Amateur 5 years ago and then took time off, they should continue in the Amateur division.
