Performance Rules

• The Australian Pole Art Championships is a barefoot only competition however socks, ballet flats and foot thongs/foot wraps are permitted. 

• Duration of an Amateur performance must be no less than 3:00 minutes and no longer than 3:30 minutes.

• Duration of a Semi-Pro, Professional and Doubles performance must be no less than 3:30 minutes and no more than 4:00 minutes.

• Music can be with or without lyrics. Original mixes or combinations of several songs are permitted, as long as the final performance music is supplied as one audio file in MP3 format. Music with excessive profanity is not permitted. 

• The Australian Pole Art Championships does not take responsibility for copyright issues. Whatever claims are made against any media used will be passed on to the competitor.

• Removal of parts of costume such as a hat, jacket, mask, skirt is permitted however competitors may not perform nude, partially nude, in a thong or in erotic lingerie. Men are allowed to perform with a bare upper body.

• Performances must be within Australian M/MA 15+ guidelines. Overtly sexual, erotic or lewd choreography, including touching or rubbing intimate body parts, explicit behaviour or graphic themes are not permitted.

• Grip aids can be used on the body. The following grip aids can be applied directly to the poles: shaving cream, Griptinite or Dry Hands. Any other grip aids must be approved by the organisers.

Pole specs:

• 2x 40mm brass competition-grade X-Poles

• Height: approx. 3.5m tall 

• Distance between poles: 2.7m - 3m*

• Distance from poles to front of stage: min. 2m

• Distance from poles to the side of the stage: approx. 2m - 2.5m*
